Child Smile visit
We had a visit from Ann from child smile this week. The children talked about brushing their teeth and how important this is. They were shown pictures of teeth that hadn’t been brushed well then had the chance to use soft toys to practice brushing on, making sure to remember to brush all their teeth. There was also a demonstration using a large set of teeth and a toothbrush. We also talked about how many spoonful’s of sugar were in fizzy drinks and some sweet foods. The children said they enjoyed the talk and we could tell as they listened really well. The children have been having a great time playing with our new ‘me blocks’ in the small world area. They can play with pictures of themselves, their friends and teachers. We have had a great response from them. We plan to include family members and pets too. If you have any photographs you are happy for us to copy we would be happy to include them in our collection.
We have been exploring mark making this week using porridge. The children used various tools to make patterns and tracks in the porridge. They have explored this wet and dry and how the different textures feel. They also used toy cars with felt tip pens attached to them so they could drive them around the paper making marks along the way. This helps strengthen the muscles in their fingers and wrists to help their pencil control when they begin to write. We will explore a new mark making activity each week. Have a lovely weekend everyone!
