Room 9 have been experimenting with plants and light. We began by planting our cress seeds and using this as a stimulus for writing instructions. Next, we thought about where in the classroom to keep our cress so that it will grow. We noticed that one windowsill was particularly bright on the afternoon we planted it. When we came in the next morning low and behold the sun was steaming through a different window. We have used the cress to discuss the movement of the sun in the sky and the earth’s rotation. The boys and girls of room 9 have really enjoyed checking up on our cress every day and keeping a cress diary as a class. We kept some cress in a cupboard to see what would happen when the cress had no light, as you can see it’s not very happy.
