Historic Walk Aberdeen

Today P5 took to the streets to learn about Aberdeen’s rich historical past with the team from Aberdeen Urban Studies Trust. Although it was chilly, we learned loads about our city’s past in the sixteenth century when Mary Queen of Scots was in charge of Scotland.

We visited the Castlegate where we saw the Mercat Cross (showing us Mary and her family). We also saw some interesting writing in Peacock’s Close and we measured how narrow the streets were. We found out about Aberdeen’s castle and walked the Old Historical King’s Highway. It was interesting to see Provost Skene’s House and find out about the Denburn too.

This session helped us imagine Aberdeen in Mary’s time, it has changed quite a bit!
