An Update from Room 16

Primary 5 have been really busy learning and settling into a new year at Broomhill.

We have enjoyed exploring Africa and discussing issues around the global goals. We have also looked at famous people including David Livingstone and Nelson Mandela, while we enjoyed reading The Butterfly Lion. It was also great to work with the Montgomery Centre too who helped us understand the Rights of the Child.

This term we have been developing our creative writing and we are now going to be moving onto to learning about poetry. We have created some fantastic texts about Africa which have been full of exciting vocabulary.

In maths we are looking at shape and have been learning about place value and mental maths strategies. We will continue to explore number alongside other areas of maths next term.

Next session we will explore Natural Disasters.I’m looking forward to exploring more global issues and doing some more science next term!
