Important Information about School Meals – Children moving to P4 after summer ONLY

As you know pupils automatically get a free school meal until the end of Primary 3. As your child goes up to Primary 4 in August, this will end and you will have to pay for school meals unless you get one of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance
  • Any income related element of Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit, but not Working Tax Credit, with an income under £16105
  • Both maximum Child Tax Credit and maximum Working Tax Credit with an income under £6420
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Universal Credit

If you get one of these benefits, your child can still get a free school meal. To apply for this please take the Benefit Award letter to your child’s school or Marischal College so we can confirm your entitlement and get you to fill in an application form or complete the form below;

Free School Meal Application Form

You must do this by 23rd June 2017 so that a free school meal can be provided when your child goes back to school in August.

If eligible for free school meals please register your child. This registration now releases funding from the Government of £1200 per child direct to the school as part of the Pupil Equity Fund (PEF) Government programme.

The cost of a school meal is £2.10 per day. You will have to start paying this if your child is not entitled to a free school meal. Please note that if you receive a free school meal to which you are not entitled, you may be asked to pay the money back.

If you have any questions about this please contact either the School or Marischal College (01224 523898).
